Laura has written the ultimate book on wet finishing handwovens... "Magic in the Water" is an amazing compilation of fiber information and actual handwoven samples. The characteristics of various yarns... wool, silk, linen, cotton (and more) and the newer regenerated yarn.... are explained in depth, as well as how they change when wet finished.
There are 22 projects in the book, each including the draft, weaving information and a detailed explanation of proper wet finishing. That alone would make this a book worth having. But, Laura has also woven and finished samples for each project! You can see and feel the "before and after" fabrics and really get an understanding of the magic that happens in the water. How wonderful it is to have this information in front of you before you start your project......it can help eliminate the unpleasant surprise.
